DAS provides specialist advice and guidance on various topics relating to Aboriginality and Deafness.
 
We provide this specialised advice and guidance to external stakeholders, including Deaf individuals, whether Aboriginal or not, non-Deaf individuals, service providers, other organisations, and government departments.
 
The topics we deliver include:
  • Aboriginal culture
  • Aboriginal rights
  • Aboriginal culture sensitivity and incorporation

Case Management


This service is only available to Deaf Aboriginal people with NDIS Plans.
 
Case Management is where we support Deaf Aboriginal clients in various aspects of their lives and refer them to appropriate providers. This may include:
  • Exploring own Aboriginality and identity
  • Centrelink
  • NDIS
  • Department of Families and other government
  • First Nations Auslan interpreting
  • Medical: GP/Dentist/Hospital/Physio
  • Education matters
  • Support at meetings and interviews
  • Support with shopping
  • Test or examination or assessment, e.g. OT
  • Religion/Wedding/Funeral/Family event
  • Sports/Recreation/Hobby
